E-MAIL GUIDELINES for STUDENTS
Always include the course number in your subject line.
I use mail-box filtering/sorting I always give course related e-mail high priority. Vague or uninformative subject lines get low priority, or messages may be discarded. |
Always use your University of Manitoba e-mail address.
Non-U of M email addresses may be subject to spam filtering. Privacy law considerations require me to use your U of M email address for many kinds of communications. |
For inquiries about grades or registration permission, you
must include your student ID number.
Such e-mail MUST come from your U of M address, and may require additional verification to protect your privacy. |
I usually deal with work-related e-mail during normal working
hours, Monday through Friday.
Although I read my e-mail frequently, DO NOT EXPECT prompt replies to messages sent overnight, on weekends, or on holidays. |
Your e-mail to me is part of a professional relationship.
Treat it that way.
All-caps subjects such as 'URGENT' or 'PLEASE REPLY AT ONCE' are usually a signal that the message is spam. My name is not 'Hey Prof' or anything similar. |
