Currently general second and simple third order quaternion equations remain unsolved. I will talk about my ATTEMPT at solving them. There are significant difficulties behind solving these equations. Wasin So, who solved simple second order quaternion equations in 2001, wrote to me stating that "it seems to me the algebra is getting very complicated for the general second order and even simple third order polynomials."
