In this talk, two irreducibility criteria for skew polynomials are presented. The proofs rely heavily on non-commutative valuations and extensions thereof. The results apply, in particular, to ordinary linear differential operators and linear difference operators having coefficients in not-necessarily-commutative fields with valuations.
