I will review Johnson's construction of the ring of quotients of a nonsingular ring (from Rowan's book, "Ring Theory"). Then I will discuss how to generalize this to more general operations than ring multiplication (call this the "method of multipliers"). This will lead to the construction of a fractional extension of "distributive semilattice expansions": meet semilattices with added operations which distribute over meets.
