Abstract:
A character of a module is a homomorphism into a (direct sum of) injective modules. More precisely, if E is a direct sum of injective left S-modules and M is an S-R bimodule, then the character module of M with respect to E is the left R-module HomS(M,E). I will go over some of the basic and elementary properties of character modules, and discuss their connection to elementary duality. Some of this has been mentioned in passing in earlier talks, but I aim to do some simple proofs this time. |
