A Mini Course in Algebraic Geometry

Abstract:

The aim of this series of talks is to give a minimal introduction to the basic concepts in algebraic geometry needed to study elliptic curves.

  • Some Commutative Algebra
  • Bezout Theorem
  • Cayley-Bacharach Theorem
November 26
  • Elliptic Curves
  • These are non-rational
  • Parametrization (by elliptic functions)
  • Group laws on elliptic curves
  • Associativity of the geometric group law
  • Elliptic Curves of higher degrees
  • Cayley-Bacharach algebras of higher degrees
