Hi, and welcome!

My name is Ty, and I am a CIRGET Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at the Université du Québec à Montréal, working with Steve Boyer.

My research interests are in mapping class groups, ordered groups, and low-dimensional topology. See my maths page for more.

I completed my undergraduate in Mathematical Physics and Pure Mathematics from the University of Melbourne in 2010. I completed my MMath in 2012, and my PhD in 2017 in the Department of Pure Mathematics at the University of Waterloo under the supervision of David McKinnon and Doug Park. During 2018 and 2019 I was a PIMS Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Manitoba, working with Adam Clay.

Here is my CV, my research statement, and my teaching statement.

Here is a video of my 3 Minute Thesis entry in the 2017 University of Waterloo finals. Here is a 12 minute version I gave at the 2017 TEDxUofTSalon event at the Fields Institute in Toronto.

Here is an interview I did with PIMS from February 2019.
