The Zariski* topology on the prime spectrum of a module
Abstract:

R. L. McCasland, M. F. Moore and P. F. Smith [Comm. Alg. 25 (1997), 79--103] introduced a topology on Spec(M) for a certain class of R-modules M, which is analogous to the Zariski topology for Spec(R).

The main purpose of our work is to construct a new topology on Spec(M) valid for any R-module M and which is also analogous to that of Spec(R). We call this topology the Zariski* topology.

Various properties of the Zariski* topology are discussed and some examples are also given to illustrate the results. The relationships between the topological spaces Spec(M) and Spec(R/ann(M)) are also considered.

This talk is based on my Masters thesis presented to the University of Baghdad.
