The length of a noetherian module
Abstract: This sequence of lectures will be based on a paper by Gary Brookfield. The notion of an ordinal valued length will be introduced for noetherian modules which extends the usual definition of composition length. It will be shown that this invariant is quite a natural measure of the size of a noetherian module that has advantages over more familiar measures such as uniform dimension, Krull dimension and reduced rank.
